Welcome to Year 2
This year we have already been really busy with our topics Superheroes and Space. The children have made some amazing masks, collages, rockets, and solar systems!
We made a huge paper collage of the solar system and drew some brilliant pastel pictures.
This half term in Literacy we have been creating character descriptions, comic strips and fictional stories all based around Superheroes.
In Maths we have been learning about place value, addition and fractions!
During PE we have been lucky to have the amazing Mrs Kendall, who taught us a great Space dance.
During this term we have been learning our 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. See below for links to the YouTube videos we use.

Wow we really have been busy during our Autumn term.
During the Spring term as a key stage we will be learning about the seven continents and the 5 oceans.
Year 1 are researching Africa and North America , Year 2/1 are researching Asia and Europe. Which leaves Australia and Antarctica for the Year 2’s. The Key stage will spend a day teaching the other classes about their continents and tasting foods from around the world. A final day will be spent as a Key stage researching our final continent South America.
As we are researching Australia we have taken on a class pet! He is a bearded dragon and they originate from Australia. Our class is extremely pleased to have Spyro join us. He has already inspired us in our Maths and Literacy… I wonder what he might inspire us to do next?
We have written thank you letters to lady who gave him to us, investigated how to care for him and created bar charts while voting to find his name.
Dinosaur in Dial Park !
Today a T-Rex was spotted in Dial Park!
Mr Clark sent us the video and asked us to think of a way to trap the dinosaur.
We have spent the afternoon coming up with a plan to catch him! Drawing and labelling a step by step plan.
Fingers crossed it works!
