Welcome to Year 4/3!
In our class, we have Miss Owen as our teacher and Mrs Bresenhan, Miss Bridgewood and Mrs West as our teaching assistants.
We work very hard in Year 4/3 – now that we’re a bit more independent, our teachers expect more from us.
- The children are expected to read at least 4 times a week (and it would be really helpful if the adults could sign the reading diary to say that we’ve done this). Reading is not just listening to the words on the page, but also asking us questions about what’s happened and what might happen next, asking us to link what we’ve read to our learning and really testing our understanding of the text.
- Times tables are very important in Year 4/3. From 2020, the Government has introduced a times table check with all children in Year 4 having to answer 25 times table questions up to their 12 times tables! It can be very tricky but with regular practise we know that we’ll be great. If you want to practise at home (our teachers think that would be very helpful!), then all of the children have a login for Times Tables Rockstars – if you google this, it will come up.
- Homework is sent out termly on a ‘menu’. There are a selection of activities that we can choose from and we will earn a certain amount of dojos for the effort and creativity of our work.
PE for the year is set out in the table below:
|Autumn 1||Autumn 2||Spring 1||Spring 2||Summer 1||Summer 2|
|Gymnastics – coach||Athletics||Dance – coach||Net and Field||Invasion||Target|
|Premier League Primary Stars – coach||Swimming||Swimming|
Please can you ensure that your child has their school PE kit (joggers/shorts, Dial Park PE top, trainers (outdoor) or pumps (indoor)) in school for the sessions. Miss Owen will send out a dojo to let you know which day we have PE on.
Forest school with Hayley and Andy moves throughout the year but is as follows; Autumn Thursday mornings, Spring Wednesday mornings, Summer Thursday mornings. We have a lot of fun but can often get messy but we do try and get ourselves clean afterwards.
If you do have any questions or concerns, please speak to Miss Owen on dojo or at the end of the day. If it is an inconvenient time, Miss Owen will make an appointment for you.
